The Hop Shoppe Bock

Description:- This dark german lager is a full bodied brew, traditionally brewed for springtime consumption.  The resulting beer is malt forward while retaining neutral lager characteristics when used with the proper yeast.

5 Gallon All Grain Recipe Kit.

Note:- Yeast not included in kit price.


Grain Bill “Grist” (Mash @ 150-160F)

Base Grains

5.5 lbs of 2-Row Malted Barley

6 lbs of Munich Malt Type I

Specialty Grains

0.5 lb Crystal 90L

0.25 lb Carafa Type 2

0.25 lb Roasted Barley

Hops (Add once Wort has reached a boil)

0.45 oz. Magnum @ 13.2% A.A. (60 min *Left in boil)

0.5 oz. Northern Brewer (30 min*)

1 oz. Magnum (5 min*)


Whirlfloc Tablet (Irish Moss) (15 min*) (Optional)

Yeast (Pitch in full volume of wort in Primary fermenter)**

Dry Yeast: Saf-Lager W-34/70

Liquid Yeast: White Labs German Lager


**Lager Yeasts ferment best at temperatures in 45-55F range to achieve true lager characteristics and no off-flavours. Due to these colder temps a Yeast Starter or a higher pitch rate are recommended for a healthy fermentation. Do your best to follow the recommended temperature range and pitching rate for your yeast.
